Typology and the Patriarchy
Author: Christopher Chayban
So often Patriarchy is equated with a hierarchy or hierarchical structures. It’s interesting because we associate the Patriarchy with the Rational Logos and the “Logical” Thinking function mind, when, in fact, hierarchy happens through the realm of feeling (also a rational function but not logical or the thinking function). Because hierarchy says, this person is better than that person, this person has more “value” (the two dollar typology word for feeling) than another person. Funny that we don’t usually think of the West as very feeling oriented but they are! So yes it (Patriarchy and the West) is totally rational from head to toe. What’s missing is not judgment, but perception. And the perception of not only the sensation aspect or the gross (like behaviorism, as you advocate) but of the intuitive and subtle (psyche, spirit etc) and somehow tying that back in all together into one functioning whole.
